Welcome to the Pirates PeeWee Learn to Swim Program
PeeWee Pirates is the learn-to-swim division of the Parkland Pirates Aquatic Club, designed to help children build water confidence, develop strong foundational swimming skills, and foster a lifelong love of the sport. Using a small-group, technique-focused approach built on swim coach principles, our program emphasizes proper skill development, confidence, and teaching all 4 strokes in a structured and supportive environment. Unlike traditional large-group lessons, PeeWee Pirates focuses on individualized instruction and long-term progression — creating a clear pathway from beginner swimming to pre-competitive and competitive swimming opportunities within the club. Whether a swimmer is just starting in the water or preparing for future training programs, PeeWee Pirates is built to teach swimming the right way from the very beginning.
Note: SwimAlberta registration fee is not included in the program cost. This fee (approx. $38) is invoiced separately after registration
Fees & Registration
PeeWee Pirates offers affordable, flat-rate session pricing that is comparable to local recreation swim lesson programs.
Program pricing does not include the SwimAlberta/Swimming Canada registration fee.
All swimmers are required to hold an active Swimming Canada/Swim Alberta membership. This fee is paid once per season (approximately $38) and covers all PeeWee Pirates sessions registered during that season—you do not pay the Swimming Canada/Swim Alberta fee for each session.
For insurance and safety reasons, Swimming Canada/Swim Alberta registration must be active before a swimmer enters the water.
Please note that all Swimming Canada/Swim Alberta fees and PeeWee Pirates registration fees are non-refundable.

Our PeeWee Stations
PeeWee Preschool
Our PeeWee Preschool station is designed for young swimmers who are beginning their aquatic journey. Swimmers learn water acclimation, safe pool entry, bubbles, breath control, floating, glides, and early body positioning in a fun and supportive environment. The focus is on building comfort, confidence, listening skills, and positive experiences in the water while introducing foundational movement patterns that prepare swimmers for future stroke development.
PeeWee Station 1
PeeWee Station 1 introduces swimmers to the core fundamentals of swimming. Athletes develop breathing control, flutter kicking, floating, glides, dolphin kicking, and early freestyle and backstroke movements. Swimmers begin learning proper body alignment and water balance while building confidence swimming independently for short distances. The emphasis is on comfort, coordination, and developing strong foundational habits.
PeeWee Station 2
In PeeWee Station 2, swimmers begin refining their freestyle and backstroke while expanding their overall aquatic skill set. Athletes are introduced to sculling, bilateral breathing, diving, somersaults, and introductory turns. Breaststroke kicking, eggbeater kicking, and butterfly foundations are also introduced. This station focuses on improving coordination, body control, rhythm, and technical understanding while preparing swimmers for more advanced stroke work.
PeeWee Station 3
PeeWee Station 3 focuses on stroke development across all four competitive strokes while introducing more advanced swimming skills. Swimmers continue improving freestyle and backstroke technique while developing breaststroke, butterfly, flip turns, IM turns, and individual medley skills. Athletes also build endurance, streamline efficiency, underwater confidence, and racing fundamentals. The goal is to prepare swimmers for progression into pre-competitive swimming and structured swim training environments.
